Operating at the intersection of art and commerce, Kim MacColl brings consideration, clarity and relevance to forward-thinking fashion brands. Specializing in creative direction, art direction, photo production and brand strategy, Kim aligns her creative vision and branding expertise with business objectives to craft cohesive, elevated visual identities that engage and inspire.
Behind beautiful work is often hard work, and in Kim’s case, an unfailing dedication to excellence and ability to bring her creative vision to life from the ground up cultivated since her start as a women’s dress design apprentice at age 17. Kim’s fashion design talent led her from New York to Sydney, Australia, where the local culture, art, and music scenes inspired her work. Recognizing similar sensibilities and a growing but untapped fashion scene in Los Angeles, Kim pivoted into trend forecasting. As VP at here&there, a pioneer boutique agency whose mission was to identify emerging fashion and lifestyle movements, Kim analyzed culture, the runways and street style to translate her insights into actionable strategies for a diverse range of clients from Disney and Levi Strauss to Urban Decay, BCBG, Joe’s Jeans, St. John Knits, and Nordstrom. In 2014, Kim brought her expertise in-house at JOHNNY WAS, where she defined a cohesive, elevated visual identity for the legacy California lifestyle brand executed across campaigns, print catalogs, lookbooks and creative collateral as well as spearheading expansions into direct mail and ecommerce, driving explosive growth.
Recognized in the industry as a visionary creative leader whose personal and professional integrity is beyond reproach, Kim is committed to making the fashion industry a more responsible, equitable and inclusive space. She is passionate about nurturing talent and building teams, creating the space for her team’s creativity to flourish and inspiring them to do their best work. A mentor at heart, Kim leads from a place of passion, focus, skill and authenticity.
